Raymond Edgar Hansen passed away peacefully on July 1, surrounded by family and loved ones at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife, Imelda, and son, Matthew. A funeral service for Raymond will be held on 06/07/26 at Morrisons Funerals at 12.30pm.

Raymond — known amongst friends as Ray, Monte, or Wal — was born in Hamilton in 1943 to parents Edgar and Muriel. He spent much of his childhood in Orewa before settling down in West Auckland. For most of his working life he was a cabinetmaker but he wore multiple hats, including his stint as a volunteer firefighter.

Raymond's first son, Christopher, came during his first marriage with ex-wife Annette. He was a beloved brother to the late Helge, and half sibling to Philip, Lynne, Des, Kristine, Peter and Sandra.

Raymond had an infectious charm and sense of humour, and would often put others first. He would balance being a hard worker with frequent trips fishing around Auckland, and dedicated support of the Warriors in the NRL. In recent years, he and Matthew had become diehard Warriors season ticket holders.

In his final months, Raymond endured a battle with cancer. We thank the staff at North Shore Hospital, Waitakere Hospital, and Tasman Care for their recent support and assistance.

Alongside his funeral service on July 6, friends and family of Raymond can attend a casket viewing on July 4 between 10.00am and 12.00pm.
